Use and Maintenance of WSS-481 Bimetal Thermometer

Use of bimetal thermometers

WSS-481 bimetal thermometer is an on-site measuring instrument suitable for measuring medium and low temperature. It can be used to directly measure the temperature of gas and liquid. The principle is to use two different metals working under the principle of different expansion coefficients when the temperature changes.

The main component of an industrial bimetal thermometer is a multi-layer metal sheet composed of two or more metal sheets laminated together. In order to improve the sensitivity of temperature measurement, the metal sheet is usually made into a spiral roll shape. When the temperature of the multilayer metal sheet is changed, the amount of metal expansion or contraction of each layer is not equal, so that the spiral roll is rolled up or loosened. Since one end of the spiral coil is fixed and the other end is connected to a pointer that can rotate freely, when the bimetal feels a temperature change, the pointer can indicate the temperature on a circular graduated scale. The temperature range of this instrument is usually 200 ~ 650 °C, the allowable error is about 1% of the scale scale.

The WSS-481 bimetal thermometer is similar to the rod-shaped glass liquid thermometer, but it can be used under higher mechanical strength requirements. And has: waterproof, anti-corrosion, shock-resistant, intuitive, easy to read, mercury-free, durable and so on. Can replace many other forms of temperature measuring instruments, widely used in petroleum, chemical, machinery, shipbuilding, power generation, textile, printing and dyeing, food and other industrial and scientific research departments.

In practical applications, there are 1Gr18Ni9Ti stainless steel and molybdenum dititanium for protection pipes, which have strong pressure resistance and corrosion resistance.

The dial has the following structural types: Axial, Radial, 135-degree, Universal-type, etc. It is suitable for various on-site installations. In the use and maintenance should pay attention to: bimetal thermometer in the storage, installation, use and transportation process, should try to avoid collision protection tube, do not make the protection tube bending, deformation. Do not twist the meter housing during installation. The instrument works best in an ambient temperature of -30°C to 80°C.

The bimetal thermometer, when the bimetal feels a temperature change, the pointer can indicate the temperature on a circular graduated scale and can directly read the data, which is very intuitive and convenient. Therefore, the scope of application of the WSS-481 bimetal thermometer in Shanghai No. 3 Automation Instrument Factory is very wide, such as petroleum, chemical industry, machinery, shipbuilding and other fields. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the misunderstanding of bimetals in applications so as not to affect the accuracy of the measurement results. Then we come to understand the misunderstanding of the application of bimetal thermometers.

Application Mistakes of Bimetal Thermometers

1, high temperature range:

The temperature range of the bimetal thermometer is 200~650°C, and the allowable error is about 1% of the scale range. In fact, this is not correct, because this type of metal sheet is made of a spiral coil shape heat-conducting sensor. It easily fatigues at a high temperature of 650° C., and the temperature difference is very large. Therefore, when the temperature exceeds 550° C., a thermocouple should be considered to solve this problem. problem.

2, the lowest temperature range

The temperature range of the bimetal thermometer is 200 ~ 650 °C (this is not correct), the lowest temperature can be measured to -40 °C. In fact, this is also not much, because, bimetallic thermometers in the production of temperature calibration is usually at -20 °C
