The Western Springs Fire Department has recently updated their page with a collection of historical photos. Situated in MABAS Division 10, the department boasts a long and storied history with a variety of fire apparatus from well-known manufacturers such as Ward LaFrance, FWD, Seagrave, E-ONE, American LaFrance, and Pierce. Originally painted in white, the department began transitioning to a white-over-red color scheme in 1977 with the arrival of an American LaFrance Ladder Chief Quint. This change prompted three units to be repainted: the 1977 E-ONE, the 1975 Seagrave, and the 1982 Pierce.
One of the standout pieces in their collection is a 1952 Ward LaFrance Fireball, which showcases the early design and craftsmanship of the department's fleet. Another notable unit is the 1977 American LaFrance Ladder Chief Quint, which marked the beginning of their new color scheme. These historical vehicles not only serve as a reminder of the department’s past but also highlight the evolution of firefighting technology over the decades. The addition of these images helps preserve the legacy of Western Springs Fire Department for future generations to appreciate.
