Chicago Still Alarm 9-10-11

Tim Olk was, for once, in the perfect spot yesterday morning when the Fire Alarm Office issued a Still Alarm at 510 S. California. Tim was nearby and arrived just behind Engine 107 to find a two-story "ordinary" building that was vacant, with an adjacent structure on one side and an empty lot on the other. Smoke was already pouring from the second floor, indicating a serious situation. Fire companies responded quickly and managed to contain the fire at a Still Alarm level. Tim captured a few great shots of the scene and has more photos available in his gallery — check it out here.

It’s always impressive to see how quickly firefighters can respond and control a situation like this. The fact that the fire was contained so effectively shows the skill and coordination of the teams involved. Thanks to Tim for sharing these insightful images and giving us a closer look at the incident.
