SAN RAFAEL, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) and ZWSoft—comprising ZWCAD Software Co., Ltd., ZWCAD Design Co., Ltd., HK ZWCAD Software Ltd., and GLOBAL FORCE DIRECT, LLC (doing business as ZWCADUSA)—have reached a settlement to resolve ongoing legal disputes in The Hague and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. AutoCAD, one of the most widely used design software tools globally, is Autodesk’s flagship product.

In February 2014, Autodesk filed a lawsuit in The Hague, Netherlands (Case No. C/09/460412 / KG ZA 14-178), and another in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on March 26, 2014 (Case No. 14-cv-1409-EJD). The company alleged that ZWSoft had improperly used AutoCAD's intellectual property when developing its ZWCAD+ software. Initially, ZWSoft denied these claims, but later discovered that an employee had indeed misused Autodesk's source code during the development of ZWCAD+.

Following this revelation, ZWSoft’s CEO, Truman Du, publicly admitted the mistake and committed to ceasing all sales, licensing, or distribution of ZWCAD+ in every market immediately. Both parties have now signed a binding settlement agreement, with a confidential payment made to Autodesk as part of the resolution.
