On March 23, the Ministry of Commerce issued an announcement on the anti-dumping investigation of imported resorcinol originating in Japan and the United States. The Ministry of Commerce received an official anti-dumping investigation application from Zhejiang Hongsheng Chemical Co., Ltd. on behalf of the domestic resorcinol industry on February 3, 2012. The applicant requested anti-dumping investigations on imported resorcinol originating in Japan and the United States. .

The Ministry of Commerce stated that the application for anti-dumping investigation of resorcinol complied with the relevant provisions of the Anti-dumping Regulations of the People's Republic of China and decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against imported resorcinol originating in Japan and the United States from March 23, 2012 onwards. The dumping investigation period was from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. The industrial damage investigation period was from January 1, 2009 to September 30, 2011.

The investigation began on March 23, 2012 and was completed before March 23, 2013. It may be extended to September 23, 2013 under special circumstances. Any interested party may apply to participate in the response to the Import and Export Fair Trade Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce within 20 days from the date of the announcement.

The data show that resorcinol is an important chemical synthesis intermediate and fine chemical raw material, mainly used for the production of rubber adhesives and UV absorbers. In addition, resorcinol can also be used in the production of wood adhesives, flame retardants and various pharmaceuticals, pesticide intermediates.
