Dave Cooper, a beloved firefighter from Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away last Sunday, April 28, 2013, surrounded by his family and caregivers. It was just weeks before he had planned to retire after a long career. On March 8, 2013, Dave wrapped up his shift and discussed his retirement plans with his wife, Laurie, setting the date for July 1st. Tragically, just five hours later, he suffered a heart attack. Over the next 50 days, he valiantly battled Metastatic Angiosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that ultimately took his life.
Tim Olk captured several poignant moments from the funeral held in his honor. These photos show the deep respect and love the community felt for Dave, who was known for his dedication and service. The images speak volumes about the impact he had during his time as a firefighter.
