Working fire in Park Ridge, 2-18-16

This morning at around 7:43 AM, Park Ridge firefighters rushed to a residential area after receiving a call about a house fire at 105 Elmore Street. The initial report suggested there might be two people trapped inside, prompting an immediate response from the RED Center under a Code 4 protocol for an active fire situation. Thankfully, within just a few minutes, a concerned neighbor informed dispatchers that everyone was safely outside. Battalion 35 from Park Ridge arrived swiftly on the scene to find intense flames engulfing the back of the house, with significant risk of spreading to adjacent structures. Firefighters wasted no time getting water on the blaze, managing to bring it under control relatively quickly. Fortunately, although the homeowners experienced some smoke inhalation, they both declined further medical attention. Mutual aid support was provided by neighboring departments including Rosemont, Niles, Des Plaines, Morton Grove, and the North Maine Fire Protection District. For those interested in hearing more details directly from the ground, you can listen to the fireground audio recordings here. Attached are several images captured by readers and local photographer Larry Shapiro, offering a glimpse into the intensity of the situation. These photos showcase not only the damage caused by the fire but also the efforts of emergency responders who worked diligently to protect lives and property.
