Buffalo Grove house fire 12/7

Buffalo Grove firefighters were initially called to a smoking outdoor light fixture before receiving a second report of a possible house fire on Buckthorn Terrace last night. When the first engine arrived, smoke was observed, and the incident was escalated to a working fire response (Code 4). The homeowner had just returned home when the fire department arrived. The house was filled with smoke, and a small fire was visible in the rear. Upon entering, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and then discovered fire in the 'C-D' corner of the house. The fire eventually vented through a second-story window as interior crews advanced their lines. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being released. Fire departments from Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Long Grove provided assistance, while Barrington sent an ambulance for rehab and a Wauconda unit transported the injured firefighter.
