According to foreign media reports on February 22nd, Intel announced that it will display the world's first 5G new air interface interoperability demonstration with Huawei on the basis of the 3GPP 5G standard at the 2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Rob Topol, general manager of 5G high-tech Intel, said: “This will be a fully-fledged match. The 3GPP 5G standard passed the ballot in December 2017 but it can be developed in just a short time. And fully compliant with the standard solution."
Top said that Intel can use the programmable processor platform flexibly, and can change and develop the system as the 5G standard develops. Today, Intel participates in more than 25 5G tests worldwide, and focuses on real-world testing, such as the currently held Korea Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
As early as September 2017, Huawei announced its cooperation with Intel on the 3GPP standard-based interoperability testing. Intel uses Huawei's 5G base station prototype and Intel's third-generation 5G mobile test platform to test 5G NR (including 4GHz to 8GHz C-band) and higher-range millimeter-wave spectrum bands below 6GHz.
Yang Chaobin, president of Huawei's 5G product line, previously said that the company has completed testing of C-band, millimeter-wave, uplink and downlink decoupling for 5G technology in Beijing.
