Saturday afternoon (10/31/20), I received a message from Larry Shapiro about an incident involving a dryer fire that occurred at 667 Bernard Drive in Buffalo Grove. The Buffalo Grove Police Department and Fire Department responded promptly to the scene. When they arrived, there was already heavy smoke, prompting them to upgrade the situation to a Code 4 Working Fire. It seems the fire initially started inside the dryer but quickly spread, filling the entire split-level house with smoke.
The firefighting units present included Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 25, Squad 25, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, and Battalion 4. They received support from neighboring departments such as Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55, Arlington Heights Engine 4, Ambulance 4, and Battalion 1, along with units from Prospect Heights Engine 39, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51, Palatine Engine 82, and the Buffalo Grove EMA Mobile Com Unit.
Safety protocols were strictly followed at the scene, with decontamination procedures and COVID-19 safety measures in place for both firefighters and the affected family members.
