Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 9-22-18 (more)

Just got this report from Steve Redick:

It was around 2 a.m. on Saturday when we responded to this massive warehouse fire. The structure was packed to the brim with highly flammable杂物, creating a serious hazard. Initially, the flames seemed to have breached into the building itself, which was constructed using bar joist trusses. Thick smoke and an overwhelming amount of stored materials inside made the situation challenging, forcing us to adopt a primarily defensive strategy for much of the firefighting effort. Once the fire was under control, the Mobile Ventilation Unit (MVU) was deployed to clear out the building. It was one of those fires that could have gone either way, but thankfully, everything turned out okay in the end.

Overall, it was a tense night, but the teamwork and quick action of everyone involved really paid off. I’ll keep you posted if there’s any follow-up or additional information.
