Northbrook house fire 8-7-11

On Sunday evening around 7:30 PM, Northbrook firefighters were called to a residence at 613 Michelline Lane after a local resident reported a fire in a second-floor bedroom. Upon arrival, the first responding units found an active fire and upgraded the alarm from Code 3 to Code 4, indicating a more severe situation. The fire was quickly brought under control and remained confined to one side of the second floor. All occupants had safely evacuated before emergency services arrived. Glenview Truck 14, Glenview Engine 8, and Prospect Heights Engine 39 provided mutual aid to assist with the incident. Larry Shapiro, a local photographer, arrived after the flames were extinguished and captured several images from the scene. One photo shows a supply line running from a hydrant down the street to Northbrook Engine 10, highlighting the coordinated efforts between departments. Another image captures firefighters returning their tools to Tower 12, which wasn’t needed as the fire was contained by interior crews. A third shot reveals that the fire originated in a corner bedroom and extended slightly into the next room. Northbrook Engine 10, the first suppression unit on the scene, had two lines deployed immediately. The department’s Engine 11, a Pierce Impel, arrived later as the third due company. Glenview Truck 14, responding as auto-aid, was also seen at the location, showing the strong regional cooperation during the incident. The fire was ultimately controlled without significant damage, thanks to the quick response and effective tactics used by the firefighters. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
