The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District received a call around 1:30 PM today about a window washer who was stuck near the top of a seven-story building at 520 Lake-Cook Road. As soon as the call came in, multiple fire companies were dispatched to assist the local units. When the first responders arrived, they found the worker hanging upside down, approximately six feet below the roofline. The situation was immediately escalated, and additional technical rescue teams were called in to handle the complex operation.
Deerfield Truck 20 quickly positioned itself close to the building and extended its aerial ladder to reach the victim. Firefighters climbed up the ladder and carefully freed the worker from the rigging before bringing him to safety. The entire operation took just minutes, thanks to the quick response and coordination between agencies.
Several photos have been shared by witnesses on the scene, though none show the worker before the rescue. However, the images that are available capture the moment the worker was assisted by emergency personnel.
