This just happened a little while ago: Jeff Rudolph sent over these photos of the fire that broke out today on the corner of Jackson and Emerson in Evanston. It was quite a scene! Here’s what I’ve got so far:

It all went down this afternoon, and thankfully no one seemed to be hurt too badly based on what I can see here. The fire department really had their work cut out for them with how quickly it spread. Looking at these pictures, you can tell it was intense—smoke everywhere, flames reaching high into the sky.
From what locals are saying, people nearby were evacuated pretty quickly once the alarm sounded. Emergency services did an amazing job keeping everyone safe, but it’s still shocking to see such destruction in a usually quiet neighborhood. I’ll keep you updated if there’s any more information coming through about the cause or aftermath.
