In order to promote energy-saving and healthy lighting and promote the development of low-carbon environmental protection, Hsinchu City in Taiwan has successively upgraded old street lamps into more efficient LED street lamps. So far, 7432 roads have been replaced to achieve the effect of saving 65.
It is estimated that the replacement of LED street lights in Hsinchu City will save 11.11 million NTD (about 2.27 million yuan) in electricity bills per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3,824 tons, equivalent to the greening effect of 2.67 million square meters of forest.
Hsinchu City Mayor Xu Mingcai said that Hsinchu City has launched a three-year LED streetlight demonstration city plan, and plans to use small-scale areas such as Nanxun Fishing Port as a smart monitoring streetlight demonstration area to promote the application of energy-saving education.
Xu Jianhua, deputy mayor of Hsinchu City, said that after the mayor took office, the city attached great importance to the implementation of the energy-saving and carbon-reduction policy and began to promote the low-carbon city plan. The first phase of Hsinchu City was completed by the end of June 2013, with more than 7,000 street lamps fully reversing LED street lights. More than 20,000 street lamps in the city are expected to be fully updated during the Mayor's term.
It is reported that Hsinchu City LED street lights will also join the intelligent monitoring function, the use of LED street lights can not only save electricity costs, reduce maintenance, efficient lighting will also enhance the night landscape effect of Hsinchu City roads, shaping the image of green environmental protection technology city.
