On August 31st, a signing ceremony was held in Beijing to mark the strategic cooperation agreement between the China Classification Society (CCS) and the 725th Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in four key areas: development and testing of coating systems, research on new materials, ballast water treatment technology and equipment, and product certification. The two parties emphasized that this cooperation will not only provide technical support for CCS in developing and certifying product standards but also help accelerate the transformation and commercialization of 725's products. Together, they aim to bring advanced and mature technologies and products to the global market, further enhancing the technical capabilities of China's shipbuilding industry.
CCS, established in 1956, is the sole professional institution in China responsible for ship classification and inspection. It is also one of the official members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). With 55 branches worldwide, CCS represents the Chinese government in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and holds certifications across 25 major categories of materials, power equipment, and components, covering sectors such as energy, transportation, and environmental protection.
The 725th Institute is a leading comprehensive research institution specializing in ship-related technologies. It consists of 12 research departments, 10 affiliated companies, and three marine test stations. The institute has extensive expertise in ship materials, material processing, shock absorption, noise reduction, corrosion protection, and structural failure analysis. It operates in over 50 professional fields, with strong research, testing, and production capabilities in critical ship components and technologies.
