At present, the Tianjin Airport’s urban terminal building at Beijing South Railway Station has been basically completed and is expected to be officially launched in early May. By then, it will further improve the service flow between Jinjin Beijing and Jingjin Beijing, realize seamless connection of air iron, better serve passengers in the south of Beijing, and help the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
The Beijing South Railway Station Terminal is the fifth urban terminal set up by Tianjin Airport following the two remote urban terminal terminals in Huanghua and Cangzhou and the two urban terminal terminals in Binhai High-tech Zone and Tianjin Railway Station. In the Tianjin Airport South Terminal, passengers can directly go through the check-in procedures such as ticket purchase, identity verification, and seat selection, and then take the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity train to Tianjin Station and then transfer from Tianjin Station to the airport free bus to Tianjin Airport.
It is reported that passenger throughput of Beijing Airport reached 83,722,000 person-times in 2013 and the capacity tended to saturate. This year, the T2 terminal of Tianjin Airport will be completed and used, and passenger throughput will have much room for improvement. Last year, about 450,000 passengers from Beijing chose to travel from Tianjin Airport.
The relevant person in charge of the Tianjin Airport introduced that Tianjin Airport will strive to do a good job of diversion. It is expected that this year will divert 1.4 million passengers from the Capital Airport. In the future, Tianjin Airport plans to build a number of off-site city terminals in Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Beidaihe and other places to facilitate travel among the three places.
