The Lake Villa Fire District has recently acquired two new ambulances, both Type III units manufactured in 2011 by Osage and built on Ford E-450 chassis. According to Jeff Rudolph, these units have not yet been assigned numbers and are identical in appearance. As far as can be determined, Ambulance 243, which was a 2005 model, has been retired. The previous Ambulance 242 has now been reclassified as Ambulance 244, while the old Ambulance 244 has become Ambulance 245. It remains unclear what happened to the older Ambulance 241. These two new units are expected to take the places of Ambulances 241 and 242.
As reported earlier, the new ambulances are painted red—marking a significant change from the current fleet, which is painted in blue and white. This color scheme was originally introduced when the Lake Villa Rescue Squad purchased its first set of ambulances. The shift to red signals a fresh look for the department, possibly reflecting updated branding or operational needs.
Two images have been shared showing the new units. One shows the ambulance that will be assigned to Ambulance 242, which is the first red ambulance in the district’s history. The other image appears to show an older ambulance, though it lacks clear labeling. These photos were taken by Jeff Rudolph and provide a visual glimpse into the department’s recent changes.
The new ambulance replacing the current 2010 Osage-built unit assigned to Ambulance 242 will be placed into service. That older ambulance is being reassigned to Ambulance 244, which is stationed at Station 2. This reorganization helps ensure continued coverage and efficient response times across the district.
