New Ambulances in Lake Villa

The Lake Villa Fire District has recently acquired two new ambulances, both Type III units manufactured in 2011 by Osage and built on Ford E-450 chassis. According to Jeff Rudolph, who provided the information, these units have not yet been assigned numbers and are identical in appearance. It seems that Ambulance 243, which was a 2005 model, has been retired. Ambulance 242 was renumbered to 244, and Ambulance 244 became 245. The whereabouts of the old Ambulance 241 remain unclear. The two new units will now be assigned as Ambulances 241 and 242. As reported earlier, the new ambulances are painted red, marking a significant change from the current fleet, which is painted blue and white. These colors were part of the original setup when the Lake Villa Rescue Squad was established. The red color scheme is a fresh look for the department and stands out against the traditional palette. Below is an image of one of the new ambulances, which will be assigned to Ambulance 242. This unit represents the first red ambulance in the district’s history. The photo was taken by Jeff Rudolph. Another image shows the previous ambulance assigned to Ambulance 242, which was an Osage-built unit from 2010. This older ambulance is being reassigned to Station 2 as Ambulance 244. With the arrival of these new units, the Lake Villa Fire District is updating its emergency response capabilities, bringing in modern equipment and a fresh visual identity. The transition of numbering and reassignment of existing units highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain efficient operations while adapting to new technologies and standards.
