Drinking champagne helps enhance spatial memory

Champagne is a party to celebrate essential drinks. The latest British study also pointed out that a few glasses of champagne per week, or a great help to maintain memory.
Biochemistry experts at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom explained that Champagne is mainly made from black grape Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc and then blended with White Grape Chardonnay. The two black grapes are also commonly used in red wine. Previous studies have indicated that the flavonoids in red wine can help lower blood pressure. This time, we focus on the analysis of substances called phenolic acids in Champagne. The researchers had a group of mice fed a diet similar to champagne for a period of six weeks. Then let them walk into the maze and look for pre-placed food. After five minutes, do a second labyrinth test and see if the mouse remembers the path to finding food. The results showed that the success rate of mice that did not take champagne was only 50%; in contrast, mice that consumed champagne had a hit rate of 70%. The biopsy test also showed that regular intake of champagne can make the protein responsible for short-term memory in mice nearly double.
Experts believe that drinking two or three glasses of champagne per week for people over the age of forty years will help improve spatial memory and prevent brain degeneration. The mice in the experiment only worked for six weeks and it was estimated that it would take about three years to replace them with humans. They are planning to recruit seniors aged 65 or over to participate in the test.
