Previously, the school had three models for the Wannian Gate Pumping Station, Liushan Pumping Station and Taierzhuang Pumping Station of the South-North Water Transfer Project.

As the source of the East Route project of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, the Jiangdu Water Control Project has four pumping stations, of which the fourth pumping station is the one with the highest power, and seven giant pumps, each with a capacity of 3000 kW. The total water transfer accounts for the entire Jiangdu station. 45%. Because it is the source station, the tides suddenly go up and down, the flow changes greatly, so the requirements for the pump are also high. To this end, the Jiangsu Water Source Company of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project selected three models from different units to conduct the same equipment test at Hohai University. As a result, the school's axial pump model won by 2% higher than the similar model.

According to Professor Shi Weidong, director of the Fluid Machinery Engineering Technology Research Center, the series of axial pump models for the East Route project of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project was developed by Professor Guan Xingfan, a well-known pump research expert in China. In the past ten years, Professor Guan has devoted himself to the research of the pump model of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project and has achieved fruitful results. The 12 series of axial flow pump models with different specific speeds successfully developed have all passed the test of the water pump model of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and other organizations. The comprehensive technical indicators have reached the leading level of the international similar model. At present, four models have been officially used in the East Route project of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project.
