House fire in Mt Prospect 3-18-13

Here's what Scott Peterson reported:

The fire occurred today around 10:30 AM at 21 S Hi Lusi Ave. Tower 13 was the first on scene and encountered heavy smoke conditions, which led to a Code 4 (no Engine 13). There was heavy fire on the second floor of a 1.5-story Cape Cod home. As I arrived, crews initiated an evacuation due to a floor collapse on the second level. The crews went defensive for a short time, knocked down the fire, and then returned inside. They were unable to reach the rear of the house because most of the yards had large fences, but there is a significant bump-out addition on the second floor at the back.

Auto-aid units that responded to the Code 4 included AHTS Tower 1, DESP Engine & Battalion Chief, EGRT Engine 11, ROLM Engine, and GLVW Engine C/Q.
