Recently, Wärtsilä authorized Hitachi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. to build an RT-flex electronically controlled common rail marine engine. At this point, Hitachi became the eleventh company in the world to produce Wärtsilä RT-flex machines. It is reported that Hitachi will produce 6RT-flex50-B marine engine at Kumamoto's Ariake engine plant. The speed of this type of machine is 124 rpm, and the maximum continuous output power is 9960 kW. The first machine will be equipped for ships built in China.
